Done a search through the forums to see if this one's been answered already and couldn't find anything - but apologies if it's already been covered and I'm just missing the point.
I want to be able to improvise a MIDI performance into DP freely, with no reference to a click, and then later go in and tell DP where to put the bar lines and beats - without altering the timing of the original performance. This helps me (a) line up subsequent overdubs, (b) deal with notation that looks sensible and (c) generally get my head round the music.
Any advice on how to do this please?
PS - still on DP7 (haven't plunged into 8 yet!)

Re: Adjusting Bars & Beats to Fit Adlib MIDI Performance
The clapping method used in the link provided by Buzzy is probably the easiest way to get the beats very close. If you want to get them exact, without quantizing, you may need to Adjust Beats manually after the clapping process. There's a video tutorial HERE, but I warn you that it can be frustrating, because the audio drifts out of sync with the video. I really need to remake that and upload it to YouTube, where that drift doesn't occur. But if you can get past the drifting audio, you will see how to adjust the beats very easily to get the beats exact, once you've gotten things close with the clapping method.
