The 8pre A/D/A conversion it is the same of the 896 MKIII?
I ask this because when i want expand my 896MKIII with another 8 input i have two choise:
- another 896MKIII
- 8pre
I know that for chained the 896MKIII there is a long and difficult mixer setting (send the 1 e 2 to the first ADAT buss - send the 3 e 4 to the second ADAT BUSS and so on..).
In different way if i choose the 8pre i know that connected the adat and 8pre already with the 896mkIII (not a difficult adat routing).
BUT THE QUESTION IS:
- THE 8 PRE CONVERSION A/D/A IT IS THE SAME OF THE 896MKIII?
Let me know.
Bye bye

Re: 896MKIII VS 8pre A/D/A Conversion: it is the same?
Hi,
I can't comment on the quality differences between the 896Mk3 (I have the hybrid) and the 8pre, but I can make some suggestions (which may or may not be useful).
Firstly, if you were to use a second 896Mk3 then you have the option to simply connect it via Firewire (daisy chain it to first 896Mk3) or USB and it would appear as a second unit option in CueMix FX (via a drop down). This would work well if you have enough Firewire/USB bandwidth but means you need to switch between mixing views in CueMix FX for each unit. Another option, that you may have already considered is the Behringer ADA8000 which has some reasonable pre-amps for next to nothing cost wise (I have 2 of these units connected via ADAT to my 896Mk3 Hybrid).
Hope that's some help, although not exactly what you asked...
Spence.

Re: 896MKIII VS 8pre A/D/A Conversion: it is the same?
Why is it more difficult to connect a second 896mk3 via ADAT than connecting a 8pre via ADAT? Doesnt the 896 just route input 1 to adat out 1 etc? Or am I missing something?
I believe the 896mk3 is better than the 8pre and you get all inputs with the same metering etc.

Re: 896MKIII VS 8pre A/D/A Conversion: it is the same?
For may pain... It is not so simple route the input 1 to adat 1.
I call the MOTU assistance and they confirm that...
The beherginer have a good A/D/A convertion but the preamp are vary vary noisy so for wrok well must be modded and i can't do it...
I choose for the moment the option double firewrie connection ut my windows system become vary vary instable...

Maybe it doesn't but once you've set it up, can't it be saved as a hardware configuration in Cuemix?FutureLegends wrote: Doesnt the 896 just route input 1 to adat out 1 etc?
