Project's Playback has malfunctioned

Post by jamesdunlopmusic »

Hey,

So here's the story (quickly!).

I was using my Mac Air to do some recordings (my Air is on 7.24) and during it the project suddenly glitched from out of nowhere. One minute it was fine then playback and record died. Everything was fine apart from when you press play or record nothing would happen. The 'light' in the middle of the two symbols on the main DP transport window just flashed at me.
I found the only way to carry on recording was to make a new file and load a fresh template.
I've just loaded the same (crazy) file on to my Mac Pro (which is DP8) and I'm getting the same issues. Play & record don't do anything. The light, that usually stays on in the middle of the button, just flashes and nothing moves.
I've checked the hardware and software settings and can't work it out!

Any help would be appreciated!

Cheers

Hey Bayswater!

Just worked it out! 'Slave to external sync' was on... Must have accidentally pressed it after hour 'stupid' of recording!

Cheers,

Been bitten by that as well. Check the Commands window to see what key it was.

You may have hit Command-7. Easy to do.

I think the default is F13.
This happens to me every time I close my desk and the keboard collides with it...

Slave to external sync? Hasn't that always been Command-7? It has for as long as I can remember, and I never had any reason to customize it.

It could definitely be taht I changed it over the years and don't remember.

But the important thing is the OP now knows about this, so it doesn't happen again.
