I am in the perplexing stage now of trying to figure out when to use DP 7, when DP 8, 32-bit and when DP8, 64-bit. The best solution for me in the main was--I thought--to start using DP8, 32-bit (in conjunction with VEP 64-bit hosting most of my "memory expensive" Vi's) but there's a giant hiccup; namely, that most of the available "memory" within the DP8 .app (>2/3) is used up, even with a completely empty project (no tracks, no VI's, nothing). So, even using VEP to run most of my VI's, DP8/32-bit craps out with very few tracks, just running MIDI (nothing "printed"). I note that the performance monitor in 32-bit has this parameter called "memory" which is not there when running 64-bit.
64 bit (which seems to hum along great) would be the obvious choice were it not for the couple hundred plugs I use all the time which don't run 64-bit yet. Oy, seems like it's always something. But will get there eventually...having great luck with Virus TI, by the way, in DP8.
DP 8/32-bit uses most of the available memory: empty project

Many users here are using jBridge, you can run DP8 64 & use your 32bit plugs and VIs.
You have a couple of hundred 32bit plugs!?
Search for the relevant threads
re: jBridge,it's a great app from a really nice developer and it's $13.

If you already own VEP, you can flip your workflow: run DP8 in 64-bit, instantiate VEP and open a 32-bit VEP to host your 32-bit plugs. Works great here. No need to buy another bridge.

Good point Frank,I somehow missed the fact that the OP uses VEP! lol
I'm glad you have good eyes and reading comprehension skills
