Plugins under JBridgeM steal my transport control

Post by Killahurts »

But only while the (UAD 2) plugin is selected/being edited. When I click off of it or put it away, transport control returns (space bar, etc.). This goes for my MCU controller as well.

Can anyone confirm?

Did I do something wrong while setting up JBridge?

8.01 in 64 bit.

Thanks!

Not sure, but I think that's just one of the inconveniences you have to put up with using JBridgeM. I just look at it as I'm lucky to have any solution at all for running 32 bit plugs in 64 bit DP. Thing is, as far as UAD plugs are concerned, the 64 bit beta versions are going to be released by UA any day now. They recently sent out an email promising they'd be out in December.

Yeah I saw that.. JBridge is my "contingency reserve", in case the UAD Beta is dysfunctional. It is going to be a Beta after all.

Funny, I never would have thought this was a problem until I actually have it. Apparently, I like to play/rewind etc. while I'm tweaking plugs.

True enough. I have some faith in UA that they'll be pretty solid for betas. I hope I'm right.

I agree James but I've never seen UA release a software version as a beta, the Windows 6.4 was not released as a beta,so I wonder what the possible issues are that's prompting UA to initially release the Mac version as a beta and also cause the delay of the Mac versions release.

Right... it's all speculation. I choose to believe for now that they'll probably be pretty solid by the time they're released for public beta.

Agreed. UA is as good as a dev gets.

+1
UA is as good as it gets but imo there must be some kind of issues that's causing the delay and the initial release to be a beta.

It could be. It could also be nothing. I can't always share how I know some things, but I've been in situations where I actually KNOW what's going on and you'd be surprised at how often the speculation on forums is wrong. We'll all see soon I suppose.

Well, I'm going to speculate anyway  I think there are a lot of Snow Leopard holdouts in the Mac audio world, I know I'm one.. developing audio software and hardware (remember, UAD 2 is both) for the Mac has to be harder these days than it's ever been, what with all the differences between SL, Lion, ML, etc. Plus the new MBPs with Retina displays, goes on and on and on.

Still, like you guys say, my experience with UAD is that they put out a very solid product, generally. I think the Beta will be no exception, but they might call it "Beta" just to cover themselves a little. Nothing wrong with that, IMO.

On the topic, stealing the transport is not too bad, and the bridge window always being there under the plug is not that bad either.. Like you James, I'm just glad to have it. What I'm really not looking forward to is having to redo every plug one at a time with settings saved and all, when the AUs get here. I would just put it off until then but I have some projects I have to do now, and it's getting too late for me to go back to 7.24 at this point - I've already been rebuilding my templates in DP8.01
