828mk1 / DP8, no more direct hardware monitoring ?

In Setup Menu, Input Monitoring Mode: direct hardware playthrough option is grayed out.

Exact same behavior with DP8 32 bit as 64 bit
Go figure: monitoring of any chosen analog input is still available thru Motu Audio Setup app.

I've took a look at this with DP7.24 on a clone drive: monitoring option shows as expected, no option grayed out.

Complete setup:
828mk1 Rom 1.02, harware v4
DP8.01
OS10.6.8
Motu driver 1.6 54199
Motu audio setup 1.4

Any insight appreciated.

I have hardware monitoring with my 828mkII in DP 8. It seems to be automatic but there is a bug that I've described in other threads - it works or not depending on how many other channels I have muted (9 or 11 ch. muted, it works but 4 or 10, it might not. It also depends on how many channels exist etc. Definitely a bug).

I've not tried it since updating to 8.01. I am hoping it is fixed but will post and file a bug report if not.

The original 828 and original 896 interfaces did not have an internal mixer. They do have a function that allows patching of 1 or 2 analog inputs to the main outputs. That function does not work under Mac OS 10.7 or later, regardless of the version of DP. Under 10.6, direct monitoring is still available via the MOTU Audio Setup software. I'm not sure MOTU will be able to restore direct hardware monitoring for these older interfaces within DP8.

Well, it's nice to know that this issue is not my issue, at least.

Now to find a project where I can test to see it 8.01 fixed the monitoring bug I found. We'll see...

Thanks for posting, Magic Dave, but bad news indeed.
No more patching when upgrading to OS7 or OS8.

This tells the end of my so reliable old 828 is coming.
