Motu ZeroConf service? Automatic or manual?

Post by ErikDeluxe »

Hey

Running Windows 8 64 bit and Motu Ultralite mk3 hybrid.

Reducing as many uneeded services as possible in services.msc.

The service Motu_ZeroConf is described To: "Enables hardware devices and software To automatically configure themselves on The network and advertise their presence".

This is currently Put in Automatic. I run My computer as a DAW mainly, and normally turn of any network connections (use it for downloading updates sometimes.

I recon It should be ok To Put this service to manual at least?

What about Windows audio and Windows audio endpoint builder services? I dont use Windows audio, I run Motus Asio drivers. Maybe Windows audio still has To run?

Thanks

It is safe and good to disable MOTU_ZeroConf service. You can even delete it if you like instead, using http://www.dameware.com/downloads.aspx or manually in Regedit under this key where it will be found:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services

Leave the Windows Audio services as is. They're needed.

If you ever add an OSC remote control app for CueMix, you might want to put that back on automatic.

hello,
i have a problem with that service or something,
i run windows 7 with a real good pc
and latest drivers
on boot time i lately notice a real long delay for about 20 seconds
while windows loading
i look in the windows event viewer and see it has an
error with motu_zeroconf service on loading
the info says something about network lookup and WMI ...
so i disable the service from running and then i had this problem:
cuemix fx window takes like 20 seconds to open , looks like it crashes and then finally loads ok...
will be asking motu about it right away but maybe anyone else have this problem?
i whould like to use the service sometimes to have an osc controller...
