motu 828mk3 setup with cubase, wont audtion samples, please

motu 828mk3 setup with cubase, wont audtion samples. yeah im having probs setting up my motu 88mk3. it wont audition samples when i want to bring 1 into a project also when i use the envelopes in cubase it wont play the sound? i must not have it setup right. would somone be kind enough to explain how to set it up right

its so complicated realy wonna get round this problem of not beening able to audtition samples its a major stunt in my music making. can somone explain the best way to have the 828mk3 setup with cubase5. i cant make heads or tails of the manual with the motu ahhhhhhhhh

IIRC, Cubase will only send auditions to the first defined output pair in it's setup panel where you link the internal channels to the physical channels on the 828. That might be a pair that is different from the one you have connected to your monitors or headphones.

ok so ive opned up cubase and i go into vst connections and in there is where i route my synth into cubase. it says in the outputs tab thing main stereo outputs 1&2 are connected??? what would i do from here??

went into device setup and its says main output 1&2 (1) active. main output 1&2 (2) active ???

I'm going from memory because I haven't used Cubase for a long time.

If you have your monitors connected to the XLR outputs, that the Main Outputs, they should appear as outputs 9 and 10 in Cubase and Logic. Drag that pair up to the top of the list of assigned outputs, and it will be used for auditions. Right now it appears auditions are going to analog 1 and 2 and if you don't have those connected to a monitor you won't hear anything.

im completly lost lol i had a little cubase soundcard before the 828mk3 but brought the 828mk3 so we could jack synths in but it has made things soooo complicated. im new to all this. ive gone into the control panel 4 the motu and changed main output to analog 1-2

ok i see outputs 9-10. so does this mean i need to plug my monitors into output analog 1-2 and then assign main stereo output to analog 1-2?? why has motu made this so complicated. it semms silly to me to have main output xlrs but have to jack into output 1-2 to hear auditions?? or am i completly wrong? motu tech people people where are you lol

in vst connections ive set that to analog 1-2 for main stereo output. in device setup motu audio asio in the list ive made analog 1-2 active for main output. am i doing this right ive set the main outpu assign to analog 1-2 in the control panel for the motu and pluged my monitors into output analog 1-2 but still i cant hear auditions lol thrustrating or what

No. Keep the monitors connected to the XLR outputs. Tell VST Connections that your main outputs are these outputs. I don't know how Cubase will identify them, but they will either be called Main, or Outputs 9 and 10. In VST connections drag that pair up to the top of the list. Now your main mix will be sent to the XLR outputs, (as long as you set it to that in the mixer and audio channel options. And anything you audition will be sent to that pair.

You should be able to leave the settings in MOTU Audio Setup at defaults, and do all this in Cubase. Look up Audition in the manual, and look over the VST connections section to verify how auditions are sent to the audio outputs.

hi man, thanks. ive set stereo output to channel 9-10 in vst connections but i cant find any settings on the master channel in cubase to link it to output 9-10. just says stereo out. still cant hear audtitions dude. i'll take a look through the manual. i did try this earlyer also put the stereo output to 1-2 but still no luck.

had a little cheap cubase soundcard & used just software, no problems at all,chould jump on and start chucking beats together. thout ok lets add some hardware and a decent soundcard and now less musics getting made
and spending all the time trying to resolve problems. for the price of the kit motu should of had this coverd plug and play for us simpltons

and did you move it to the top of the list? That's the critical piece. Cubase only auditions to the first channels in the VST connections list.

I wouldn't think you'd have to do that. If Stereo channel is set to 9-10 and master channel is the same thing, it should be ok.

its funny how such a simple task can be made so technical. ive pretty much tried everything i can come across. i cant find anything in the manual about audtitioning samples via cubase or just auditioning samples. the manuals like a wild goose chase lol

before ive put the manual down and got the answer from youtube.
