Quick Note on Mac in 64 bit and Safari

Post by MIDI Life Crisis »

I checked a few apps now that I'm running my Mac in 64 all the time and Safari was set to run in 32 bit. I changed that and dang of it ain't snappier!

You folks now in 64 bit might want to also check some of the apps you use to see if they are running in 64 or not.

You might want to check your memory usage of Safari in 64 bit. Absolute hog.

Thanks for that! Yeah, looks like it, but I have enough memory that it's not really going to impact me much.Others may well want to beware of that.

Here's what it looks like in the Activity monitor at 64 bit:

And here's what it looks like at 32 bit.

The hit seems to be in the web content section.

If you leave it running for a couple of hours it can run up gigs!
