DP8 -VST Plugs - Some Issues 32/64 bit

Post by NazRat »

Wave 9 VST has gone missing in DP8 64bit - it just doesn't see it whereas Studio One no problem. Kontakt 5 in all its various VST implementations fails 64bit examination, passes in Studio One. The Line6 POD Farm stuff shows up as 64bit AU, but not VST in both programs. Just using Studio One for comparison of another 64 bit audio app with no bridge - no promotion here.

On the 32bit side VST, Sonic Synth 2, Philharmonik and AVOX EVO Throat fail examination.

That sounds like a problem for MOTU Tech Support.

Is there a reason you're using the VST versions of these plugs/VI's, and
not the AU versions? Can you use the AU versions?

No problem using the AU versions - just exercising the new VST capability. I'll ultimately go VST for cross platform compatibility. I put AU back as the default because that's all I have in my old sessions anyway. It's nice that you can switch back and forth so easily with the plug sets predefined. It was just a heads up for anyone wanting to use VST straight away.

Okay. Then in that case you should tell DP8 to use the VST versions instead of the AU.
DP8 can´t run both versions. You pick AU or VST. That´s why they don´t show up.
It´s mentioned in other topics here on MN.

I see you did that. Maybe you missed something..

My point from the start (and I may not have expressed this very well) is that some fairly ubiquitous plugs - Waves 9 (shell 9.1) and Kontakt - are not working as 64 bit VST. For anyone coming to the party wishing to use VST in 64 bit for platform compatibility right at the start, they will likely be disappointed. I personally would have liked to start using DP 64 bit with VST, but I'll live. I'm just glad they make it easy to go back and forth. You can however have a blend of VST and AU plugs active in a session if you create your own plug set, but it would add a unnecessary complication since in my case everything I use except McDSP comes in both flavors (I don't use Apple plugs). Hopefully McDSP will bring VST to the Mac since they're now in the PC world.

Kettle One, up - a touch of dirt, olives is calling.

Waves VST waveshell is 32 bit while the VST3 waveshell is 64 bit - therein lies the issue. DP8 doesn't support VST3 yet, or maybe never. So Waves AU for now in 64 bit.

jBridgeM seems to work on the 32 bit Waves VSTs
