I am running lion, and pt 10 on a macpro. Am trying to get the expansion patches to change on my Roland 2080 via MIDI. I have tried to replace the midnam file, and now there is also an avid file as well as digidesign folder in the library-audio. Does anyone have experience getting the old beautiful MIDI sounds to work in these kinds of conditions? All help appreciated greatly.
What I have done on the Mac is to remove the Digi/Avid patches and .mididev from Library/Audio. This avoids some issues because some units will have duplicate names and definitions. The MOTU defs are better anyway. Remove the PT stuff and restart. Then when you want to select the patch list in PT, navigate to the MOTU .midnam files and select there. PT only supports basic patch banks and naming, so if you have your own patch groupings/banks they will be ignored by PT. I am not familiar with your Roland 2080 device so this may or may not apply. If you are not able to get any MIDI patches to show up in PT - that may be a different issue.

To get the expansion Card Patches to show up for the JV2080 in Digital Performer:
GoTo Studio Menu then Bundles.
Click on MIDI Devices then JV2080. Click Edit.
In the MIDI Device Properties Window click on Patches.
From there you should be able to add the expansion card patch lists for your JV1080.
