Changing multiple track takes?

Post by tntgraham »

Can you change multiple track takes all at once, or do you just have to do 1 track at a time.
For instance, 16 drum tracks on take 1 and I want to change them all to take 3.
Looked in book but can not find anything.
TIA
Tom

If you use the takes-related key shortcuts, all Record-Enabled tracks will automatically be effected regardless of the grouping settings.

That includes:
-New Take
-Delete Take
-Change Take
-Turn Current Take into Track
-Turn All Takes Into Tracks
-Absorb Tracks, Current Takes
-Absorb Tracks, all Takes

Thanks for the work flow tips! Most of the time I record 1 track at a time but these tips are great for my live drum sessions and more :)

I believe you can take several tracks and make them all into a single track with several takes. I never used that feature yet.

You rock, RG!!!

I've always wanted a way of switching Takes of individual tracks, or a groups of tracks, without leaving the Mixer. I very much dislike having to leave the Mixer, it's a big interruption to my workflow. Now, with the Commands you've pointed out, if I deselect tracks (Command D) first, I can switch takes or create new takes by record enabling tracks in the Mixer. In essence, I'm using the Record button as a Select button. Until MOTU comes up with a way we can select tracks from the Mixer (which I think is long overdue), I think this will work for me. It will just take some getting used to. The important thing to remember is to deselect tracks first so as not to affect the wrong track.

These shortcuts don't seem to be working in DP8. Can anyone confirm this?

Thanks.

Works here. Maybe you have the keyboard bug?

Most likely that's the Keyboard Focus Bug. It works here. When something like that happens, try Command-A and see if it selects all. Select-All is one of the first commands to quit working in 8.0, along with the W and T grouping keys, and then it may spread to more. MOTU will fix that in their next update. I reported it, they were able to duplicate it, and it was put on the list of things to fix.
