New duo with cocktaildrums and guitar/voc

Post by jottesen »

Hello every body

I have a new duo named: Meyer&Ottesen, with cocktaildrums and western guitar/voc.
we have made a youtube channel:
http://www.youtube.com/channel/UCbVotxf ... 6Zw/videos

We have recorded in DP 7.24 and mastered with ozone 5.
We have also made a video on zoom q3, and sync it in DP.
There are no overdub only guitar vocal and drums live.
This session is recorded at my home studio in this easter.

I think this kind of music is some sort of folk rock/sing a song writer
style.
I play the drums an it is very nice, and fun only play with the guitar and vocals.
It is some kind of lyric drum play, if you know what I mean :headbang:

I use one channel for: guitar and one channel for voc.
On vocals I use an Newmann Retro mkll mic. see link:
http://www.newmannretro.com/
Then one channel for bassdrum/floortom, two channels for snares
( I use two snaredrums )
for overhead I use FAT HEAD II Stereo Pair Microphones in Blumlein Stereo
configuration ( three channels )
I have been using DP since the old perfomer days.

I hope you like the music and thank you for your time.

I really liked each of the elements of this - the vocal, the guitar, the percussion but the balance of each did not sound right. In every song one of them got lost in the mix and it was a different part each time. For example on Angel I wanted the guitar louder. It's a great sound, just needs more work at the mixing stage. Good songs though!

Hi Mjc
Thanks for your reply (and you to linwood).

I will go thru the songs again, and go a little more deeper into the mix.

Have a nice day
