Motu Ultralite + Windows 7 Problems

Post by Zeela »

Hello,

I recently built a PC for gaming but I thought I might as well try get Pro Tools up and running to make use of the high end system I have.

I am having major issues with motu hardware and functionality with Windows 7.
I have half got it working, with no sound output, then it will randomly disappear. Or sometimes it will say "No Motu hardware detected" and not let me open Pro Tools.

I have an ASUS P8P67-Pro Motherboard if that helps and a ULtralite mk3 Firewire.

I just have no clue, help!

Hey.

Update the bios to your motherboard, update all drivers on the system to the newest manually from manufacturers' websites (do not use those crappy services which do so, only asking for a failed pc) and uninstall your antivirus if this is needed as a test.

Do a Windows Update and ensure all available patches are installed.

Clean the machine with Ccleaner for files, then use it to clean the registry.

If a/v was the culprit, install MSE as a replacement.

If it works well in other things besides Pro Tools, then obviously, Pro Tools is the culprit and needs to be updated and/or troubleshot.

Thanks for your reply. What is the best way to flash your bios, the Asus website is pretty useless, I have a ROM file, do I use that and boot off a memory stick in my bios or something? Never updated my bios before you see.

Use the ASUS Update Utility app that came with your motherboard. You can update the BIOS in Windows through it.
