Update install mistake

Post by bannerj »

I've made a stupid mistake. In my haste of trying to find my DP 7 manual w/ key I mistook the 7.24 update for the whole DP install. So I installed the update and then found my install discs/manual later. So now of course 7.24 won't open any files. I get a pop up that says I don't have the right authorizations.

I assume I just need to uninstall the 7.24 update and then reinstall it? Or do I have to wipe all DP off and start from scratch in the right order?

I would uninstall the update, then install DP7 from disc.

At one point, it was necessary to install all updates "post disc". I don't know if that has changed or not, but the only harm in doing it that I can think of is the few minutes it would take to gather all the versions to install them. Each version brings something new to the table, so skipping a version might be akin to skipping a maintenance fix.

I see that MOTU doesn't keep all of its updates available in user accounts, but perhaps the omitted versions are no longer necessary. I would still install all the available updates in numerical order just to be safe.

In terms of uninstalling the update...I trashed the 7.24 from the applications, but didn't think I could uninstall like I would with install discs.

Anyway, after trashing the 7.24 and then reinstalling it post the discs, I still get the same no authorization nag screen.

Delete the previous authorization files per the link in the previous post. Reauthorize using the DP 7 CD.
