Can't find authorization file in 10.7.2
Hi all, I just got a new MacBook Pro with Lion preinstalled. I'm moving to a portable setup after my not-so-trusty-i-guess Power Mac G5 2.5 Dual developed a coolant leak and croaked.
Anyway, I've got my DP7 install disc, i've downloaded the 7.24 update from Motu's website, but I'm having issues with the program. 7.0 installs fine. So does 7.24. But once I authorize 7.24, I cannot create new files. My auth file is seemingly corrupt. This has happened to me before, in Snow Leopard. The fix was to delete the Authorization file, located in root directory. However, in Lion, there is no such file in the Root directory. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling, fixing permissions along the way, etc - but no joy. Somehow DP wont' reauthorize...
So i need to delete this auth file, i know that, but i can't find it! It's not at root (i've enabled seeing hidden files, and i know how to use terminal to navigate the file system). It just doesn't seem to be in the same place anymore. Spotlight search for "Authorization" comes up empty as well.
Any ideas?

Reinstall and reauthorize DP is all I can think of. Pretty strange but you can search for hidden files from the finder too.

Re: Can't find authorization file in 10.7.2
You cannot drill down to Root but you can use Find to locate and delete the Authorization files.
That might not be your problem, however. Do Get Info on DP. Mave sure that you have Read and Write permissions at all levels. Also check your project files. If they were created on another computer and moved over, this is likely to be your problem. Affects Office and FileMaker files, too.

Re: Can't find authorization file in 10.7.2
I just dealt with this issue for a friend. The file is there but hidden. To find the hidden file in Lion so that you can delete it, you must do the following:Phil O wrote:TryOldTimey wrote:...So i need to delete this auth file, i know that, but i can't find it!...Any ideas?
/Library/Application Support/MOTU/Digital Performer/Auth-DigitalPerformer 7.0
Phil
Open Terminal
Type the following (without the quotes) "defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles -bool true" Hit Return
Type "killall Finder" Hit Return. This relaunches the Finder only and leaves everything else alone.
You will now see the hidden authorization file in the path where Phil says it is. Drag to Trash and empty.
MOTU recommends that you run Repair Permissions at this point.
You will now see every hidden file on your Mac. To hide them again, you reverse the process by doing the following in Terminal:
Type the following (without the quotes) "defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles -bool False" Hit Return
Type "killall Finder" Hit Return.
You do not need to reboot.
The next time you launch DP 7.24, it will ask for a new Authorization.
Although you can delete previous version auth files in Lion, the only ones you can create are for DP 7.24.

Re: Can't find authorization file in 10.7.2
If may help someone:
I've installed El Capitan on a Virtual Machine
I've installed Digital Performer 7.01 from CD on El Capitan but when typing the key code, DP7 start to cycle without completing the installation.
I put the "Auth-digitalperformer 7.0" file on the root of the system /
The installation has been completed.
Instead, version 7.24 seems not work.
