all dressed up w nowhere to go

MachFive3 so far looks and feels well designed with only a few minor issues. I'm using it on a windows 7 64-bit slave with an old gina 24. It's a smart device. I have great hopes for it in the marketplace as I'm a big MOTU fan.

My big issues are with content. The included sounds are surprisingly lacking in orchestral content (pointed out in another thread here). One of the most miraculous innovations of the streaming sample medium came about way back when Gary Garrition incorporated mod-wheel crossfades to create expression changes over time in sustained notes. Surely this is part and parcel now, of ANY decent string, woodwind or brass library. It's been that way for years.

The included content? No continuous controI of the sustained sounds, just velocity. I mean really, velocity sensitivity for Violin sustained legato notes is a bit of joke: one whole note ff, the next whole note pp, the next one mf? I don't think so. What a huge step backwards to AKAI-level programming. What a silly waste of the medium.

My biggest, most crushing disappointed was how far their claim fell short, of being able to play our Gigastudio samples. The results have ranged from humorous (ultimate timpani) to tragic (sonic implants strings and brass). In the latter case, it appears that only one layer loaded, as I cannot see multiple layers in the editor. In either case, the MOD wheel does nothing in the MOD-Wheel Xfade patches, exacerbating my disappointment with the programming of the included content.

Great device, but without my Giga library and without professionally programmed orchestral patches included I'm all dressed up with no place to go.
