Just heard a nationally syndicated talk show host just now claim on the air he was running Lion on his Mac and that it was NOT a beta???

The Golden Master has been seeded to developers. Which also means that it is also readily available on The Pirate Bay and the likes ;-)

I think this person is on the registered developer list. He provides a lot of free advertising time to Apple on his show. I did go look at not out yet, but probably tomorrow I'll bet. :)

Yeah, rumour says tomorrow.
Will be really interesting to see if DP is working in Lion!

No reason that 5.13 on shouldn't work in Lion but one never knows until it is tried.

Installing 5 shouldn't work because the 5 installer is PPC. The 6 installer is UB I believe. I will be trying both out soon enough, I suppose - not that I have to but I will be curious.

Man... I may have to hold off. I just remembered that Unisyn will be DEAD to me then and I'm not sure just now if I don't have banks saved in Unisyn that I might need. Hmmm....

Well, I guess I really meant 'it will be interesting to see if DP works without issues'.
It's been said that PT9 isn't working at all in Lion so obviously things can happen. Now PT is notorious for being sensitive to even smal incremental updates of the system.
I'm well aware that theoretically it should work. But still I'm not taking it for granted at all that it will. That's why I'm curious to see what the situation will be.

Remember how long it took them to get to OS X, then 10.5? They've known about this as long as anyone.

I will likely be an early adopter, waiting only a few days to take the plunge. Because of my handicap, I am looking forward to some of the new features.

At the moment, I have no DP projects under deadline so, if necessary, I can go back to SL or upgrade to DP7 as I see fit if everything doesn't just work.

If DP 5 and 6 work for me, I will try installing them on my daughter's machine - just to see if I can. She has no interest in them so, successful or not, I will be removing them as soon as I see how the installers behave.

I imagine the boards will be jumping for a while.

I'll not be an early adopter, but I'll be watching the comments!

Hmmmm... I heard Quicken was near death or practically dead already (can't vouch for the source, though).

A few weeks ago I wanted to buy a finances app, but I kept reading so many bad things about Intuit. It made the worst of DP-bashing trolls sound angelical in comparison. And I'm not talking about forums only.

Do you guys use it much? Do you like it, or do you have strong complaints?

I did find a couple other finances apps that seemed interesting, butI haven't kept researching because my hands are more than full with OmniFocus - GREAT GTD app, BTW.

I'm using QuickBooks 2006 for Windows. I can still run it on XP. I switched over to the Windows version from MacOS years ago because it just seemed that Intuit wasn't keeping feature parity with the Mac version.

Intuit?

Do not get me started except to say that, for the millions of dollars that they make from the Mac community, a little attention to updating their non TurboTax products would be nice.

Actual conversation at MacWorld a few years back:

Me: "You are telling me to violate my license and install this onto a PC so that I can generate this one form not available in the Mac version. Then I have type the data into the Mac version because I cannot copy the data. You really mean this?"

Intuit: "Yes."

Intuit has a headquarters out here. I have friends who used to work there. I don't know if things have changed, but you'd be shocked (or perhaps not) to learn just how understaffed even their Mac TurboTax effort was. :( That said, I use the Mac version of Turbo Tax every year. One of those years I had a near panic situation as I could not directly print my forms for filing to my laser printer. I had to print to a PDF and then print the PDF from Adobe Reader as I recall. (No-- I don't like to efile.)
