Which effects plugin suite to buy?

Post by charlesparente »

Since I'm using VE Pro a lot, I'm looking to buy an 'all purpose' Audio Units FX plugin suite [EQ, compression, etc] that I can use inside VE Pro.

I love the DP plugins but I don't want to route every single VE Pro MIDI track back to DP as an audio track to use DP plugins for EQ, compression, etc...

I'm looking at Vienna Suite, using the demo, and it's quite impressive.
My favorite feature is how every plugin has a frequency spectrum analyzer working in real time. I'm no mastering expert, so that's a great feature!

But I was hoping to spend less than $500, and Vienna Suite is more than that.

Can anyone recommend a plugin suite [or some individual plugs] for under $500
which have built in graphical frequency analysis?

From looking at the Waves website, their plugins do not appear to have real time frequency analysis, except their analyzer plugin itself.

Thanks,
Charles

I mainly use DP plugs, which are great to my standards, but for some vocals, or main solo instrument, I sometimes go with Alloy.

IMHO, the single band or multiband processing option is great when it comes to compression, or exciter.

Actual price is 249$.

And there's Trackplug by Wavearts:

The analyzer isn't as detailed, but I really liked the sound when I demo'd it long ago.

Izotope has some useful plugs and effects. One thing nice is that they have put out a bunch of videos on YouTube so that you can get a feel for them and their operation before you download a demo.

Stillwell Audio has a number of good plugs sold as shareware. They are unrestricted in demo mode. Pay for the ones you use.

Yeah, I love Stillwell's stuff, too. BUT, none of his plugins have the FFT spectrum analyzer thing that Charles was looking for.

Here's a thought, though. Both Voxengo and Blue Cat Audio make freeware analyzers, so if you have enough insert spaces you could put that last in the chain. Here are links to both:

Of course, Izotope Alloy does show FFT.

Back in 2009, I got this one around 160$.
IMHO, it is still good value for actual price.

Street price is $199 from some of the big online retailers.
