Noise Gate in CueMix FX

Post by Kobb »

Does anybody know if MOTU has a plan to add a Noise Gate / Expander to the Dynamics tab in CueMix FX? I'm actually pretty surprised that such a basic function is not already in there, and it's turned out to be a pretty big problem for us.

The reason it's so important to have the gate in CueMix FX is because our company records thousands of short VO clips to some proprietary software, and we need to have the audio processed as it's recorded. No time for that much post fixing.

Any thoughts or rumors about a noise gate in CueMix FX?

Thanks.

I have no answer but I agree with you. I'd gladly trade the limiter for an expander or gate. I use 823 mk3 as a 24 channel preset live mixer for synthesizers and my main problem is noise when the mix is blown up in a PA system. Noise gates would make a huge difference.

Anyone who agrees; why not visit the MOTU suggestion box and suggest this?

Shouldn't be too hard to add this functionality.

Built-in gates would be handy, especially in torsig's situation. Kobb, if you are recording a single or pair only, why not use an external gate? Aphex has a nice stereo comp/logic-assisted gate that works really well on the front end...
