I just became aware of this group, which consists of the duo of Nataly Dawn and Jack Conte.

I really like what they're doing. And I especially like the fact that their music videos are almost entirely constructed of the actual recording process in their home studio. Very entertaining.

Actually, if you watched TV around the Christmas holidays they were doing commercials IIRC for Toyota. Kinda weird & bizarre concept and look to the adverts. Did NOT make me want to buy the car.

Interesting song. Parts of it I really like and parts of it I really don't like. I can't say that about many songs, so I'll just say, "Interesting." But at some point I'll check out some of their other stuff.

I don't watch much commercial television, so I missed the ads-- not that they would have affected my car buying decisions- I like my two 23-year-old Toyotas just fine.

A lot of the songs they've done are covers of songs the original versions of which I wouldn't normally listen to. On a few, I think they did a pretty good job, while on others, there's only so much you can do when you start out with a mediocre song.

The formulaic nature of the format gets a little repetitive, but the most appealing aspect is just how good a demonstration the "VideoSongs" are of what goes into the recording process. It's also kinda fun to try to figure out what equipment and software they're using.

I'm not sure how much the ability to see how they make the sausage figures into their popularity. But they seem to be at the forefront of a new paradigm in the performing and recording biz. They appear to be making a living at music without having to go on tour or sign onerous contracts with record labels.

I recognized them from the Hyundai Xmas commercials. Read a blurb about them somewhere else. Can't remember where, maybe SOS? Apparently, Nataly Dawn shoots and edits all the video. Not my style of music, but it's interesting to see how artists adapt and thrive in this crazy mixed up music industry.

They're very creative and talented. They have a nice, fun mix of older and newer songs in their repertoire.

The videos are edited well, too. To me, this is impressive to see "how the sausage is made." Much better than a bunch of disjointed images that don't mean anything. I don't care much for music videos anyway. Never did. But, I'm old. I'd rather form my own mental pictures than have somebody show me theirs. I like the humorous little interjections as well.

They're a textbook case of how you don't have to have awesome gear to make great recordings.

The San Francisco Jazz Collective is doing its latest project with the music of Stevie Wonder.

And they have been working with Pomplamoose to do a VideoSong of one of the selections.

Should be very interesting.
