I recently assembled a live recording rig, intended to record the shows that occur at my bar. I've run into some problems with crackle. You can listen to what's going on here:
Here's a list of the gear
Yamaha M7CL, word clock master
8 tracks out via TDIF (MY8-TD card), soon to be 16 (two cards)
Motu 2408MkII
PIII, WinXP SP2 256MB ram, IDE Hard drive, running Reaper, 24-bit 44.1Khz
I know it's a legacy system, but considering when the 2408 was made, I'd have to think that it can handle the requirements.
Here's what I've already troubleshot (is that even a word?):
Currently have the MY8-TD card set to EXT:88 as recommended by MoTU website
48khz word clock did not work, 44.1Khz works
Disabled PCI to Write buffer thingy in BIOS
Changed from ACPI to Standard PC
Most of the audio is fine, but randomly you'll get those spots of noise/crackle. I'm considering buying an external word clock, but on my budget I couldn't get a very expensive one, and I can't imagine it'd be much better than the internal on the M7.
If you have any thoughts or suggestions, please come forth! I'd like to get it up and running with no problems ASAP.
