Help identifying old MOTU hardware

Hi All,

I am trying to sell this old MOTU MIDI Timepiece, but I haven't been able to identify the product. Can you please help me identify this product, and determine it's value (if it has any?).

Pretty sure that this is the original MOTU MIDI Time Piece.

On eBay, about 25.00 in non-working condition...

AFAICR This was a Mac unit. There *MIGHT* have been an ISA card for it.

It *should* work with OS8 and OS9. I have the MIDI Timepiece II and I'm trying to get it to run on my 68000 Mac using OS 8.1. Clockworks boots but I need to load FreeMidi but it's bigger than a floppy.

Heck, it just might work with 7.5.5.

Here's the OS9 driver for it:

MOTU does not have a serial OSX driver for it.

You will need a 9VDC power adapter for it and a Mac 8 pin DIN serial cable "MacPlus" type.

Word up-- you can use this with OSX. You will however need a USB MIDI Time Piece and you can then daisy chain this old unit off the newer one with the right serial cable.

I just resurrected this beast myself...it is indeed the original MTP. I am using it on OS9 with a G4 (using gPort for the serial) and OMS to communicate to my Oasys PCI. I wanted to add a PolyEvolver rack to my setup, so I decided that my old MIDI matrix should do the trick...it still works fine! I believe I had it setup for OSX at one point as well, you just need the gPort MIDI driver or something.

However, there are a few tricks to getting this to work (at least for me):

- You need the old version of MTP Console (MTP II Console 1.04) if you want to avoid FreeMidi.
- You may need to connect to the Network port first to be able to establish communications.
- The memory battery is probably no good, so you will lose your settings if you unplug the AC adapter (although you can turn it on/off on the front fine).

The power supply is 9VDC, 500 ma, center positive.

There used to be modification instructions somewhere for replacing the memory capacitor, but I cannot seem to locate them.

Does anyone know which capacitor to replace or have those instructions?
