Save a MIDI Express XT (Par) on Win 7 ?

Post by autodafe »

Hi
I am planning a new PC, with Win7, 64 bits, an i7 processor and so on.

I still have an old MIDI Express XT parallel version which I wouldn't like to thrash (paid a lot years ago, still working good for what I need)

I understand there's no (easy) way to get it working on a new system, but I've read someone here around talking about "daisy-chaining" it to a newer USB version. So theoretically, I can buy a new 8x8 USB MIDI interface and connect the old to it getting (possibily) 16 MIDI ins and outs?

Which new version support this "linking" ? I have seen all the new models on Motu webiste and none of them looks like having a parallel port or something else to allow connection of a MIDI Express XT parallel (except MIDI of course)

What would you guys recommend?
thx

Two MIDI Timepiece AVs can be connected together to act as one device, but the MIDI Express XT does not have this feature.
The leading cause of wrong answers is asking the wrong questions.
