Microphone ID?

Post by Phil O »

If you look at videos of Wynton Marsalis with the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra, you'll find the stage littered with Neumann TLM 170's, 193's AKG 414's and these:

scroll to 4:17 and 9:03 for good shots of this mic.

It looks like some sort of ribbon, similar in size and shape to the Cascade Fathead. Can anyone ID this?

Looks like a hybrid of a couple of mics; like someone grafted a capsule from the Blue Bottle series onto an old Telefunken mic body.

Based on the lollypop head and the black band at the top of the body I'd guess the mics are Hybrid Mics. Never used them just saw them in an add.

Thanks, that could be it. It was driving me nuts. I was just trying to get a handle on what Jazz At Lincoln Center has spent for live sound. They recently purchased 13 Grace m802's which carry a street price of about $4700 each. Wishing I had their budget.
