Here's where to talk about preamps, cables, microphones, monitors, etc.

Simple MIDI to USB Adapter?

Post by msmeritt »

While I have an M-Audio KeyStation Pro 88, I find that most of the work I do on it doesn't take advantage of any of its many controllers and features. Unless I needed those extras, I'd prefer to generally use the little Yamaha NP-30 that I more often keep out and plugged in. The NP-30, though, only has regular MIDI output, not USB, so I'd need some kind of MIDI-to-USB adapter.

I really think a full-fledged MIDI interface is overkill. I'm looking here:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html? ... ive=390957" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

and seeing adapters that run anywhere from $5 to over $40. While I do like getting quality, I also like spending no more than is really needed to get the job done. Any advice?

Motu Fastlane Usb is a no-brainer. It will help in the long run. Many usages in any studio or live rig.
BTW, worth every cent.
