If I already have the full Sampletank, are there any different sounds in this Free version that I can use without having to install the Free instrument? In other words, could I just install the sounds and use them in the full Sampletank?

Check the sound list, but the Free version wasn't enabled in User Areas already with full versions for that reason. http://www.ikmultimedia.com/sampletankfree/sounds" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

When it popped up in my user area, I did notice that there were MOOG samples in the free set. I'll have to see if these are from SampleMOOG or if they were already included with ST full version.

Oh, since it's a new computer, I didn't bother installing my earlier version of SampleTank, or AmpliTube 2 for that matter.

At any rate, I'll deal with the suggestions in the PM you sent later tonight first, before entertaining whether I should have installed my other SampleTank license first.

When I tried to do this second, it complained that I had a newer version on the system already, so I figured I had done the right thing by skipping my older one.

But when it's a new system vs. an existing system, I can see how this might trick out the authorization scheme. For instance, I did have to install all the AmpliTube products on the new machine, even though I had deleted them on my old machine, as otherwise their patch libraries were not available inside ApmpliTube 3. So I can see how similar problems might come up with installing the new SampleTank Free version.

:?: So for the benefit of the masses here is it preferable to install Sampletank XT Free (the one that we downloaded during that massive group by), or Sampletank Free? (the recently promoted version).
Been feeling foggy in the brain lately, and reading on the IK Multimedia site and this thread leaves me feeling like a thick headed individual. :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Oh, I forgot to followup to say that IK came through and presented an updated installer that works properly on new MacPro's running Snow Leopard in 64-bit mode.

In my case, there was no need to remove the previous SampleTank installation, but I forget now whether that one got replaced by the new install or not -- I'll have to check once home.

Typically, IK updates do not replace earlier versions, which allows maximum flexibility in dealing with legacy presets (of your own, and factory-based), as well as easier migration when opening older projects (vs. getting an instant failure message on "plug-in not found", as happens with NI's products when they get updated).
