Foley cue sheet

Post by guillaume.cavaliere »

Just wondering: is there an option in dp7 that lets you print track sheets for foley or ADR cues like in nuendo where you can create dummy regions and then print them out? I didn't find anything but maybe I overlooked something...

It's not THAT important; there are other softwares but I'm still asking just in case!

I usually keep a spreadsheet open for this things, but with the introduction of Lyrics in DP there´s a window dedicated to text in a timeline, so it might be usable for this stuff. I haven´t got around to check it yet, but that was my first thought when it was introduced, might deserve a look.

Yeah, I thought of that too, but I think it works only for music sheets and not for frame-scaled timelines.
I'll check it out.

You´re right. I was reading the manual about lyrics yesterday and it doesn´t seem very usable for this purpouse.

Cue sheets would be a nice future update for DP.

I believe MOTU´s will is for the markers to be used for this purpouse. If there was an "extended view" sort of.. for markers, where we could write a few different attributtes and description for each one, together with a big TEXT I would be sorted... a little cue sheet were we can rearrange those markers according to actor/scene/kind, tied to a frame based timeline. I´d say that even 4 or 5 customizable attributes would do. And a few templates of those, something like:

Marker nº X --- TC---KIND---Performer--description---TEXT(Dialog)

Then use the priority already built in and maybe a DONE/To Be DONE coding tick. That would make a decent cuesheet for me, most surely good enough to abandon my spreadsheets for most of the simplest projects.

Different marker track "folders" would be very usable as well, so that they can be nested/ hidden / shown in different groups. I currently use clippings to keep different markers at disposal, I would be nice if it was inside the project for a quicker switch, instead of deleting and dragging new ones in.

This would take care of most of the suggestions I´ve been reading for markers as well from a more musical viewpoint.

Spot to timeline and a lovely cuesheet would do very good to DP from a postie´s standpoint

Yea, markers would work. I was thinking more along the lines of highlighting a section in the sequence and an option to 'add to cue sheet'. Then, have the ability to add text to finish out the cue sheet before printing straight from DP. This way, it is saved in the DP project in case you need to change it later. I suppose you could do the same thing with markers.

Great Idea .. to add to the excellent idea's regarding the marker "list"
It would be nice to have different types of markers with filter options.
Not only would it be nice to filter markers in the Markers List but ..
It would be nice to see it just like the MIDI sequence view, but instead of controller types,
It would display marker types in a timeline.
