Are ProVerb and MW Leveler as sweet as MW EQ?

Post by cmcenearney »

Hi,

I left DP5 for Logic 8 a few years ago. I'm thinking about upgrading to 7 rather than Logic 9 and I'm wondering, are the Leveler and ProVerb as nice as the MW EQ?

I always loved that plugin and I think it totally smokes the Logic EQs, but I am not trying to start a DP vs. Logic thread - just, MW EQ vs. other DP plugs!
:-)

Thanks in advance,
Colin

Yes, they are very good plugins. I don't use them myself, but have used them---and I will say they are good. In fact they are so good that MOTU will be releasing a plugin bundle of those exact (3) for roughly $295. Oops, did I say that?
Thank you,

I really like ProVerb and use it a lot. The "ducking" feature,
where you can set it up so the reverb return gets ducked by
the vocal, is fantastic. I don't know of another convo reverb
that has this. The adjustments you can make to pre-delay,
decay time, reverb EQ, mix, and damping are all very very useful.
And you can import any .wav file to use in it - and that means
any, not just an impulse response. Lots of opps for
creative sound design with this plug-in.

I don't use the MW leveller because I already have the UAD
LA2A, so I don't need it.

My order of preference

MW EQ One the best EQ's anywhere

MW LIMITER Better than a lot of others that I've used.

Pro verb, not as good altiverb but for a bundled convo verb, excellent and sounds better than logic's and waves.

My 5 cents
Creativity, some digital stuff and analogue things that go boom. crackle, bits of wood with strings on them that go twang

I totally agree with kassonica, and I think you'll find the MW stuff quite good. But let's not forget the often forgotten MW gate with its side-chain capability. It's a workhorse.

You can put your own IR's in Proverb so you can make it even more useful.

The Leveler is great; total no-brainer. I find ProVerb kinda tweaky, but it does sound very nice once set correctly. The menus and controls are bizarre and non-sensical.
