Hi,
I recently purchased an 8pre and I'm having trouble getting it to work with Cubase 5 on my Vista 64bit machine. I have a firewire expresscard with a TI chipset plugged into my laptop. The interface works at 44.1kHz at a 512kb buffer rate but is pretty much unusable due to crackles and pops. If I try to switch to a higher sample rate and/or lower buffer rate, Cubase freezes at startup. I have read threads about 3rd party bus drivers and tried installing the AVT driver but the only one that supports a 64bit system is the AVT Firepackage. However, my laptop doesn't recognize the 8pre after switching over to the AVT drivers. When I revert back to the original windows drivers it's fine (though still unusable). Is there any way to get the AVT drivers to work with Vista x64? If not, is there another way to get my 8pre working and at higher sample rate/lower buffer rate? Thanks.

Have you seen this MOTU Tech Note?

The leading cause of wrong answers is asking the wrong questions.

I don't think my computer has the legacy drivers because it's Vista not Windows 7, but I will check when I get off work.
UPDATE:
I tried the fix suggested in the tech notes post but it didn't work. Any ideas?
