Windows 7 sample rate consistency (and bit depth issues)
My MOTU Traveler works fine for recording, but I also would like to get the sound working for just listening in Windows so that I don't have to deal with connecting another sound card to my monitors. The problem I have is that Windows often seems to have some communication issues with the Traveler--Windows will be running at 16/44.1 while the MOTU is trying to run at 48k. I can set Windows to run at 16/48 if I open the MOTU control panel and switch it to 44.1 and then back to 48 (which is still rather annoying), but Windows doesn't even give me an option for 24 bit. I'm wondering if that could be part of the issue, since I always record at 24 bit, or if there isn't really a bit depth setting for the unit like there is for sample rate, in which case it wouldn't matter. And in any case, it would be nice if Windows would always be set to the right sample rate...
