Can't add control surface in 7.12 RESOLVED

Post by edwinh »

When I click on the plus button, nothing happens. I have no MOTU folder marked control surface in my library. Weirdly, this was all working fine the last time I tried it a few weeks ago. I had assumed HUI support was built into the app. I'm now standing on a stage ready to start performing, except this doesn't work. I tried reinstalling the 7.12 update, but no love. Any other ideas? Can anyone send me the required bundles for a BCF2000 in baby hui mode? Thanks for any and all ideas!

Edwin, I saw your post on MOTU-MAC at 7:17... so you've been on stage for almost 2 hours now? Any way, I sent you private email to try and help you. I think you may get in trouble if you did an install of DP from one of the update packages, on a machine that didn't have DP on it before. What I have heard is that not all the update installers reinstall those control surface bundles.

You are 100% correct! I've been burned by this one before and had to learn the hard way!

Thanks to James, I'm up and running again. Yes, it was a frustrating couple of hours during setup, soundcheck and before the show. I got it working at setbreak, but didn't use it because it would have meant soundchecking all over again. Will be good for tonight, though.

Thanks, James!

Not a problem! :) For the benefit of other users who might be faced with the same issue, I'll post my reply to you from MOTU-MAC. It might generate a hit for someone searching for this issue on Google in the future:
FYI, as a heads up to some who might find themselves in this situation, it's been reported that some of the MOTU upgrade installers will not install the control surface bundles. So if you decide you'll just install DP on your laptop and you use an update installer instead of the install disc, you'll want to check to see if you have the control panel bundles here:

./Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/MOTU Control Surface/

There's a chance you won't, and you'll need to install those off the disc.

Last bit of info I discovered (and I don't actually own a BCF 2000) is you need the HUI.bundle and then you have to hold down button 5 on the BCF 2000 to turn in on in Baby HUI mode which works find from what I've read with the MOTU HUI control surface bundle.
