Connecting 896HD to OPTICAL input on monitors

I have a pair of Roland D-90 studio monitors that have optical and coaxial inputs as well as XLR. I would like to try and set them up using the digital inputs. How would I go about wiring the 896HD to these monitors. I am guessing it is not just a plug from the optical out on the 896 .. any ideas? Thanks, Al

The optical input on the monitors is probably a TOSLINK input. The optical connections on the 896HD are ADAT. The two types are not compatible.
The leading cause of wrong answers is asking the wrong questions.
