Traveler MK3 Question

Hi guys, I just got my Traveler Mk3 yesterday and I love the hardware and its versatility, however I have a couple of questions about the unit, I don't know whether it's defective or just the way it is designed:

All of the analysis features under Cuemix FX only works when the Traveler is set to an internal clock of 44KHz. When it is set at 96Khz, the Oscilloscope, X-Y plot and phase plot don't display anything, and the FFT and spectrogram options are grayed out. I'm also trying to connected a CD player to the Traveler via SPDIF, again it only works when the clock is set to 44Khz. 96KHz/SPDIF-slaved clock produces no sound. I've tried this on both of my computers and the results are the same.

Any Traveler Mk3 owners on here that can confirm this? Thanks a lot.

I think that the signal analysis features are only available when the interface is set to 44.1 kHz or 48 kHz.

If the CD player is playing typical audio CDs (and it's not doing sample rate conversion), then it is probably producing a 44.1 kHz S/PDIF signal. Set the Traveler mk3 sample rate to 44.1 kHz and set the clock source to S/PDIF.

Thanks for the reply, I guess that confirmed my suspicion. At least I know it's normal, I just wish if they put all this info in the manual.

I'm ditching SPDIF now and using only analog, because I have to use the Traveler at 96Khz.

SPDIF has a max sample rate of 48k so SPDIF does not function at sample rates higher than this.

That is wrong. S/PDIF is based upon the AES3 specification. It does allow sample rates above 48 kHz. The S/PDIF I/O on the Traveler mk3 (and other current MOTU interfaces) supports sample rates up to 96 kHz.

Sorry your right. Don't know what I was thinking, as I'm using a mic pre-amp with spdif in 24/96 with my 828mkIII.
