I have recently upgraded from DP 5.13 to DP 7.11. I noticed 2 major problems with the shift.
1. I experience a lot of VI "MIDI feedback" in 7.11. I play my orchestral sequence. I stop in the middle. Rewind to the top and play it again. And then there's this SUSTAINED NOTE coming from one of the VIs (ex. sustained French Horn or Strings. I noticed though that the sustained note disappears/ gradually fades out when I reach the same place (middle of the sequence) where I stopped before. I never experienced this with DP 5.13.
2. I work a lot with videos since I am a film composer. DP 7.11 crashes a lot when using Videos in sequences. I simply scroll to a specific frame in the video...and then seconds later...I see the "color wheel of death!" Again, this never happened with 5.13.
Can someone please help me with this. I hate to think that I spent $ for the upgrade for nothing.
Thanks.

Re: Problem with VI and Videos in DP 7.11
I've heard similar problems about the video thing. You might want to downgrade to DP 7.1 or 7.02 and see if that makes it better. Those were some great versions. Even 7.0 was great.
7.11 is a little different from the previous versions. It seems that there are some issues that have worked their way into what was previously clean code. I'm sure it's temporary, but sometimes we have to deal. I'd go back a version or two if it's a problem.
The stuck note… that's a hard one. For me that usually comes from some kind of confusion between DP and a VI. Maybe there are overlapping notes somewhere, and the cutoff doesn't happen. Or it may be some other issue. I don't think those are always a DP problem, but this isn't helping you to solve it. The note probably comes to an end because the sample finally ended, if its a sampled note. Or maybe there's another instance of that note later on in which the cutoff is clear and the VI responds properly to it. It's hard to say.
It could also be a conflict in plugins. Is the VI an AU plugin? Does it install other versions of itself? Perhaps deleting other versions and using only the AU will help. Another possibility is to delete DP preferences, but that means rebuilding your preferences, and possibly your bundles.
Ahhh… Bundles. If you've got a lot of duplicate tracks or mixed up tracks in your bundles, you may be having problems. Open your Bundles Window (Shift-U) and look at the Instruments panel, as well as the Busses and I/O. I've found these things to be pretty touchy at times, and I try to keep my bundles very well organized for each project.
I don't get stuck notes when playing, but I sometimes get them when stopping -- especially if I'm moving kind of fast and doing a lot of rewind/play/stop/rewind/play/stop, and that sort of thing.
I wish there were a "fix stuck notes" button, but there isn't. It's just going to take some experimenting. You probably don't get them in all your VI's. Maybe it's just a problem with one of them and some wayward assignments in the Bundles Window. If it happens indiscriminately among ALL of your VI's, then there may be something more universal at work. Experiment.
Maybe someone else will come along and post an experience that will perfectly match your own.

Check to see if you have Perian installed. If so, uninstall it and see if that fixes things. I know people that have had crashes in DP when using video and removing Perian fixed it.vonski wrote: 2. Re: Problem with VI and Videos in DP 7.11
Thanks, guys. I check and get back to you. I just don't know what is wrong? It just seems that DP 5.13 is much more stable. Didn't experience these "hiccups" with that version. (Sigh)

Re: Problem with VI and Videos in DP 7.11
I have reinstalled DP 7.1. Now every time I open a DP project...samples are missing. I have to do an automatic or manual search each time. Is there a way I could set this up in Preferences or somewhere so that I don't have to constantly search for my missing samples? Please help.
Thanks a lot.
