I just received this little puppy and I must say I am impressed with what it will do. A four channel portable audio recorder in a package just slightly nigger than a Sony walkman I have.
Yesterday I put in 2 Sanyo AA Eneloops to see how long they would last - a little over 4 hours recording time, and these batteries were not even fully charged.
My H4n came with an extra 16 GB flash memory card to go with the stock 1 GB. Recording an mp3 at 320kbs = there is enough room for over 100 hours of recording. My talks never lasted longer than 6 hours, so I have lots of flexibility there.
I plan to check audio quality today for the internal mics and then connect my Rode NT1's and check those in four channel recording. Yes it has XLR inputs with phantom power.
I am happy and impressed so far. This could drastically reduce the weight and quantity of equipment for my portable recording needs - voice only really. I saw this in a post over at the Canon HV20 forum website and immediately ordered one after reading some of the reviews. All the problems in the H4 evidently were fixed, and mine came with the latest system software as well.
