Looking to buy a new mac- DP7 with Mac mini or Imac?

I'll looking for any advice, feedback on using mac min with dp7.

I have not bought a new computer yet, am on a budget and was looking at Mac mini and Imac for a recording system. I've used my (old) powerbook with dp5 but want to upgrade to dp7 and a new mac is in order.

Any thoughts on this would be great.
Does anyone run dp7 on a mac mini?

iMac. Check the internal buss speeds. I believe the Mini is quite a bit slower. If you're going to spring for an iMac you might also consider a laptop.

I've had DP7 running on a Mini (intel), a Macbook and a G5 at various times. With low track counts and not a lot of plugins, they're pretty much the same. But when you crank up the track and plugin counts, the mini can't deal with it, and the G5 can. The processor might be up to it, but the rest of the computer might not be.

At the used Mac store near me, a G5 similar to mine, but with 6G or more RAM sells for less than a mini, so you might be better off with an old G5 than a new mini, depending on what you do with it. The downside is that the G5 probably won't run DP 8.

I don't think you are not likely to get real power and an up to date Mac at Mini prices.

Still on a G5 here and have no plans to move to Intel yet.
