So, i just finished this project in dp 7. The sounds are my acoustic guitar, a real melodica played by me, and a piano from reason pianos. the "old" sound is made with izotope vinyl and some vintage warmer 2.
I didn't make the video, the video artists are Juli Jackson and Jim Andersen.

There are things I'm happy with, there are things I can live with, but overall they're happy with it. If anyone's interested, shoot some feedback!

Not bad at all on the music side. You followed the action but not too Mickey Mouse. Now to climb on a soapbox...
I never understand why filmmakers feel like they have to distress the film and the soundtrack when they make 'contemporary silents.' I play for and a score a lot of silent films and while some are distressed, many are not. When they are played back at the proper projection speed and with the right framing, etc., they often are stunning. The bad rap comes from people who played films shot at 16 or 18 or 20 fps at 24 fps or faster in the wrong kind of projector with the wrong masking.
It's not that I'm a purest, but it is a great disservice to the extant collection of silent films and unfortunately for the new filmmakers, an indictment on their lack of understanding the genre at all. But I've scored quite a few contemporary silents and filmmakers always feel they have to make jump cuts, with scratches and dust added by their software. Why? Because they can, I guess.
I do like the tongue thing a lot. Looks like stones. Fun! Not much on the story side and as a result, not much on the acting side. Can't tell if it was shot well because they screwed it up in post. Sigh...
But I thought you did an admirable job. Thanks for sharing that.

Thanks MLC. I dig what you are saying, I would have gladly done without the vinyl, but I made the mistake of playing them both clips, one without and one with, and even before I showed them, she said that they wanted something a little more "gritty" than their temp track, which was a very Amelie-esque sounding track from Soundtrack pro. Thanks for the look though.

My pleasure. As I said, I have totally been there. If a filmmaker wants to do something, they will. I don't mind as much when they tell me. But when they do it w/o notice I get mighty pissed off. Actually the worst problems I've had have been in contempoary features. OMG the horror stories inexperienced directors create - and not of a Stephen King nature!
