KeyCue -- Great background utility!

Post by Shooshie »

I've seen this listed in these pages before, but this is in regard to the new version. I just bought this utility (about $28), because it will show you all the commands relevant to your current app and systemwide commands by simply holding down the Command Key. Actually, I have it set for "tapping it twice" so it won't get in the way of my many DP commands.

But there is one thing that has changed which now makes it VERY valuable for me: tap the Control-Key twice, and it will show my QuicKeys commands for that app. Now THAT is priceless! This is a great little app to have if you use QuicKeys. I can't tell you how many times I've had to switch over to the QuicKeys editor to check a command I don't use very often. Now it's right there in front of me.

Service was instant. As soon as I ordered, the code was in my email.

Shooshie

Thank you for the tip.
What a great app it is! I just download the demo and after 10 minutes or testing it, I bought a licence. This is indeed quite an helpfull tool. It basically eliminate my need to print a chart of key command.

Thanx again.

Hi, does it list the commands from the commands window or just the pull down menus from DP?

It shows whatever you have assigned to keytrokes (from DP's commands windown)

Thanks for the info, it only showed pull down menus in the past.
This, together with quickeys support makes it a great upgrade ( I wonder if DP has changed something instead of Keycue..) so I´ll buy it for my new machine.

I'm thinking it's not showing the commands assigned in the Commands Window, but it shows almost more commands than can fit on the screen. That doesn't concern me so much; I have easy access to the commands window, including a printout and a PDF of it. I'm actually more familiar with what I have assigned than I am to some of the menu commands. But what I really wanted was the QuicKeys commands, and it does show those! You have to use QuicKeys 4, but I've been using version 4 for several months now, anyway.

Yeah, indeed Quickeys support is far more interesting, my question was motivated more about finding out if DP had changed the way it "announces" commands to the OS for Keycue to "see them"
I´ll go Quickeys 4 with my new macpro ( hopefully next month if they make that release together with the intel chip) and this might be the perfect companion to avoid charts and stuff around the desk. Good for anybody else that sits in the studio too.
