Multi Channels -ultralite mk3

Post by Kaotech »

Hello, I bought a MK3 Ultra-lite Hybrid, and i try to listen a 7.1 channel.

I'm using powerdvd to play the DVD, when i thought to select Motu 7.1 in audio outout, the option doesn't be there, i've just stereo pairs.

How to setup the cuemix or motu console to create an 7.1 or 5.1 channels output ?

Thanks you for your help.

Edit :

I found a example of that in RME Fireface(extract of the manual), it's exactly this option i'm looking for :)
Multi-Client and Multi-Channel using WDM
The WDM Streaming devices of our driver can operate as usual stereo devices, or as 8-channel
devices. The option Interleaved in the Settings dialog determines the current mode.
Interleaved not active: The WDM devices operate as usual stereo devices. The multi-client operation
works as described above with WDM, ASIO, MME and GSIF.
Interleaved active: The WDM devices can also be used as 8-channel devices. Unfortunately the
Kernel Mixer, active with any WDM playback, then always occupies and blocks 8 channels at
once, even when WaveLab or the Media Player perform just a stereo playback (2 channels).
So:
If any stereo pair within an 8-channel group is used, the whole 8-channel group is blocked.
As a result, no second stereo pair of this group can be used, neither with ASIO, MME nor
GSIF.
The Fireface provides three 8-channel groups: the analog inputs 1 to 8 and the two ADAT ports.
Starting MME, ASIO or GSIF playback on any of the stereo pairs of an 8-channel group prior to
starting a WDM playback will prevent the Kernel Mixer from opening the 8-channel device, as
two of its channels are already in use. The Kernel Mixer then automatically reverts to open a
stereo device for a stereo playback

Hi Kaotech. Sorry no one has so far come forward to help. I'm afraid i cannot.

You may be able to help others in another matter if you were so inclined?

You say you have a working UL Hybrid? Some users are having a bit of difficulty getting it to work in certain situations.

Please could you let us know if you are running on Windows and if so what version? Have you tried to connect via USB? If so did it work? If it didn't initially did you do anything?

Rather than risk this thread going off topic you could post in http://www.motunation.com/forum/viewtop ... 14&t=39578

thx.

You need a decoder (Dolby, etc) to feed the MOTU. Not sure what software is available.

:(

My software decode all format, but i can't out more than 2 channels.

It's my first Pro Card, maybe it had a solution for outpout 7.1 or 5.1 channels ?

Below, it's the sofware output. As you can see, i've just pair.

Kaotech. Have a look in the manual @ page 82 where it talks about Monitor groups and a 7.1 output preset.

That seems to be the nearest equivalent MOTU has to the quote from RME.

Incidentally I find the RME explanation confusing but I think it's saying the same as MOTU in a more long winded manner. It'll handle 8 channels of 7.1 audio but it doesn't do the decoding.

The Groupe Monitor is the Volume control, if you assign 7.1 channel, your master volume control every output, if you assign 2 channels, the volume master, control only two channel and the others channels doesn't use the master volume.

For my problem, maybe i see an option : Enable full Wave support for
legacy (MME) software (less efficient).

I will try tonight.

I've got SoundMAX rather than your Realtek but I can now see what you are trying to do. You want the 7.1 delivered to the ULHs 4 Output stereo pairs.

You might be disappointed. The MOTU Audio Console option you mention no longer exists. Look in the PDF version of the CueMix Addendum which came on the install CD. There are two new replacement options. 'Use Stereo pairs for windows output' and 'Use WaveRT for windows audio'.
