New EW Hollywood strings at Namm

Post by towerproductions »

The EW Hollywood strings Play library is unveiled at Namm. There's a tutorial movie at the East West site you can download to check it out . A bit pricey but pretty realistic and impressive strings.

I thought that it was a bit underwhelming, maybe because of all the hype and names attached. I guess I expected a bit more of a next gen approach but it definitely sounded good.

I'm still a little fuzzy on exactly how they derived their "divisi" sections, I think that they just have another close mic that was more focused on the FC, maybe I misunderstood that though. Overall I though that the tone sounded awfully processed but that's just a matter of taste. I think EW may have been better served by waiting a bit longer and releasing a more polished, well thought out demo.

I'll be anxious to hear some of the demos made when the libs closer to completion. I don't quite see it as the LASS killer that EW was probably hoping for but I definitely wouldn't mind having it in my template, it would be a nice big and epic ying to LASS' tight and detailed yang. For $1500 and the amount enough overhead that will probably require a dedicated system I'll probably wait till next year's fire sale and PLAY PRO.

I have to say that I have given up chasing new string libraries, at least for a while. LASS is really working for me. I love the sound that I get from large and small string groups with LASS.

Peace

Can you post a link to an excerpt or two that you've done? Pop, Country, Classical, whatever?
Thanks!

Try downloading the HS video introduction again (link the OP posted). They updated it and now it features more examples. The new demo at the end is VERY good.

How do you decorate for a hollywood 30th birthday party theme? I would like to have a hollywood theme 30th birthday party and need some directions on party planning.
