File compatibility : DP 2.7 to DP 7 ?

Post by Gone To Lunch »

I have been happily using DP 2.7 under OS 9 for years, and I am now wanting to upgrade to DP 7. Can I take my files with me ? (These are combined MIDI and audio; I know 2.7 is 16 bit and 7 must be 24 ?)

DP7 runs in 16 bit as well as 24.

FWIW, I have opened ancient files from the old MIDI-only Performer and then use the "Save As" command to make them Digital Performer files that I can use to add audio and everything else to. So you should really have no major problems. The audio plug-ins could be a problem, since OS 9 predates Audio Units and Core Audio.

Same results here. Although I'm at 6.03, I have successfully opened 2.7 files. The only problem, as billster says, is that some of the plugs are not compatible.
