Is there an easier way...?
I'm making a CD for a client. He has two old cassette tapes (Rutgers Glee Club 1975 and 1976). I've recorded them into DP, each tape is about 90 minutes with around 50 songs each. He'd like to have a CD with tracks for each song. So I begin cutting up the the 90 min sound file into individual songs, which is very time consuming because many of the songs have silent sections which means you can't just cut visually. I then export each sound file to iTunes and then burn the CD. Maybe I'm just getting lazy, but is there an easier way to do this. Can you mark tracks in DP and export the entire sound file and have iTunes recognize the tracks? Or is there another program better suited for this type of project? Thanks and Happy New Year!

There isn't another workaround as far as I know.
Cassette tape to DP to CD = tedious.

Place Markers at song boundaries and then Burn the Disc from DP, using the Markers as track separators. I'm at work and my manual at home so I can't give detailed instructions, but read the section on CD burning.

I use Bias Peak for CD authoring. There's a command for auto-define tracks, which allows you to tweak the parameters for the threshold of "silence" and minimum track length, so that you can work around short silences within songs.
If you will be doing more of this type project, I would recommend Peak ahead of DP for the work.

Hey there...I think DP isn't necessary for what you are trying to do (unless you plan to audio processing on each track). I bought a Numark LP2CD turntable to digitize my huge vinyl collection. The nice thing about this unit is it operates as a stand alone unit. All you do is insert a CD-R (audio CD-R) and hit record. It's like the good ole days when we made compilation cassettes!..Anyway, you could also connect a cassette player in the line input jack...and that's it....easier than what you are doing....

That's actually what I would never do if I cared for the sound quality. A $400 combination turntable just doesn't cut it. I would use a $3000+ turntable with a $700+ MC cartrige, $1000+ phonostage and $2000+ ADC at 88.2K. Throw in also a super-stable isolating stand for the turntable. This is a minimum which would preserve that "analog" feel. Not to offend anyone, but I can actually hear the difference and frankly I envy those who just don't care.composer62 wrote:Hey there...I think DP isn't necessary for what you are trying to do (unless you plan to audio processing on each track). YMMV.

You must envy me then. Between the one solution and the very expensive one you mentioned... there's probably decent middle ground somewhere.
