DP7.02 & NI Akoustik Piano

Post by Tonio »

I just installed DP 7.01 and updated to 7.02. Getting a crash everytime I attempt to change AP's reverb size button/toggle. Using the most current AP version.

Do I need to update the Kontakt player,or use within Kontakt 3.5. K3.5 does not see the NK files??

Nope. Played with the reverb every which-a-way, didn't get it to crash.

7.02 with Leopard (10.5.8 ) on a Mac Pro quad Zeon.

Thanks Killa !

oops, forgot to update my profile. I'm running SL 10.6.1.

I can change the verb room settings on booting the project, if I change another setting after the fact, it crashes.

Can anyone else confirm?

Thanks

I've had way too many crashes in Akoustik Piano since SL/DP7. I open all of those old libraries in Kontakt 4 now. You can force Kontakt to see them by clicking on the Libraries tab in the browser and then loading the libraries. Or maybe it was an automatic scan. Not sure if Kontakt 3.5 had a library tab? If so, play around in there...

I use Kontakt Player 3.5 for Akoustik Piano in Snow Leopard. While I haven't used it much (I also have Ivory and other pianos) the times I've used it have been uneventful. Worked as advertised. But I didn't use the reverb, preferring AltiVerb for most of my reverb uses.

Thanks Kubi, Shoosie.

I will revisit K3.5 for loading the lib. I swear I couldn't access them the last I tried.

I tend to use AP's built in verb for the construction phase, then freeze it without the verb for mixing.

Perhaps I should consider another piano library, however I am not sure if the cost of upgrading to K4 is worth it over another piano lib or if they are even comparable.

Thanks again.

K4 is a great sampler, and you can definitely open AkPno in there. So that's what I'd do. I like Ak Pno for the upright and the Bechstein. And you can access all edit parameters in Kontakt, including the lid, the verb, etc.

Akoustik Piano has been crashing DP a lot for me too. I'm using the same set-up: DP7, and OS 10.6.2. Opening the plug-in within a project isn't too much of a problem, but opening a file that has the plug-in IN it often crashes the program before the project loads. Last time it happened I restarted and it was good, then froze the track ASAP. But today I tried over & over again and the project just would not load, crashed every time. :?:

So, next time I will try loading the Akoustik samples in Kontakt 3.5, thanks for the tip. Hopefully I can still edit all the variables in there? Like sustain, release overtones, etc.

AP crashes on me in the same situation as you guys have described here - thought it was just something buggy on my end...!

Sorry if this is redundant but I found on the NI site that they encourage you to use their kontakt player. I have found that it doesn't as good, but if it is a workaround maybe its worth exploring. In my case, Akoustic Piano seems to work if I don't fuss with it too much. Good luck.
