Ethno in Snow Leopard

Post by tonester »

Hi:

Upgraded to Snow Leopard. Downloaded the latest PACE extension drivers, but upon launching DP6.02, I get a "fatal error" when Ethno is scanned. Same thing if I try and open the standalone. No error codes with MachFive 2 or MSI.

Any hints?

Thanks.....

So should I uninstall the ethno program and leave the sound files? as I said, I can't open DP6.02 with ethno still on the HD

Yes, you should remove the Ethno Plug-ins from both the MAS and Components folder:
Hard drive>Library>Audio Plug-Ins.

You can use the Ethno library within MachFive 2 (if you own it) or UVI Workstation (which is a free download if you don't already have it).

I don't think so. But you can use its sounds in either Mach5.2 or UVI Workstation.

No, the ETHNO'S files don't work with KONTAKT 3.5 ; it could be possible knowing that KONTAKT 3 is compatible MachFive !

After using UVI workstation for a few hours with SL and DP 6.02 I am finding UVI is not stable. I had a couple of crashes. I might be using it wrong but basically try to track as soon as possible and get UVI out of the project...

Here, UVI work only in Plug-in mode under Snow Leopard and not in Standalone .

To remove Ethno the previous post said:

"Yes, you should remove the Ethno Plug-ins from both the MAS and Components folder:

I don't have Audio Plug-ins in Hard drive>Library...how could that be? Where do I find MAS and Components then?

Thanks.

Hi all,

I didn't see this spelled out elsewhere, so I'll post it here, and also on the two other threads that deal with this same issue.

MOTU has confirmed for me that Ethno 1 no longer works on Mac OS10.6 and above.

Anyone getting that Fatal Error issue on OSX10.6 or above may as well trash their copy of Ethno, it is now obsolete.
cheers -
