OS 10.5.8 released

Post by MIDI Life Crisis »

http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/29147 (about 250MB)

Software update is about 165MB.

Better yet and safest, the combo updater:

http://support.apple.com/downloads/Mac_ ... mbo_Update

It's about 760+ MB (I got it right that time, Mr, Frodo!)

DId it. So far so good. I'll go put DP thru some paces in a little while... Finale first.

Took about 35 minutes, BTW. Used the combo updater.

You know, I saw just now that audio wasn't mentioned. One of the Mac rumor sites had mentioned that Core Audio or Core MIDI was getting some tweaks in one of the final candidate releases. I'm sure I saw that somewhere, but you're right... can't find anything about it on that same web page you went to. Hmmm... well I'm installing it anyway. Wish me luck! LOL

Quick and dirty.

Finale seems fine.

DP 5.13 took a very long time to load and the Plugsound Pro VI in particular just stood there for the longest time, but it did load and DP 5 seems fine.

DP 6.02 loaded fairly quickly (even Plugsound Pro) but something has changed. Bounce to disk works now! I could not BTD and stopped using DP 6.02 becuase of that as the first 6 seconds or so dropped out. I did a quick check and sure enough, the entire file bounced just fine. So perhaps James "the Yogi" Steele read correctly that Core Audio was addressed. How nice would that be?

Safari seems fine. I'm hungry. OMG! The OS update made me hungry. DAMN YOU APPLE!!! :) I'M HAVIN' MEAT TONIGHT!!!

2x2.8GHz Quadcore Intel Xeon: After updating to 10.5.8 (procedure: repair perm, restart into safe mode, updating from Combo Updater) did a very quick test, opening a few files and loading a few plugs - DP5.13 seems completely unfazed. As if I hadn't changed a thing. Thumbs up so far. :D

The Apple remote on my G5 iMac isn't functioning.

Edit-- after about a 3 minute delay, the volume control I entered finally took effect.

Attempts to use it currently are not working-- I suspect that will take effect in a few minutes, as well.

Stuff might still be updating, but if that continues, reapply the COMBO UPDATER.

I tried a restart, but it wouldn't do so. Under Activity Monitor, it was indicated that loginwindow was not responding, so I force quit, and was able to restart. Following restart, things seem to be functioning properly.
