hey
I just installed a new PCIe-424 card in my new HP DESKTOP with vista home pre. I had to disable the pc sound card to install the pcie- 424. now I can't get both cards to play together( not at the same time) I would like to use both cards in my studio. the pc card on the MOBO would be used for basic stuff Internet, dvd's games. and the 2408mk3 for the studio work.
its a new pc and there is no room on the mobo to install another sound card.
what am i doing worg in the config

Re: 2408mk3 and pc sound card
I've never had a problem getting both PCIe-424 interfaces and onboard sound working. Does your onboard audio show up in device manager? Have you set the onboard as the default audio device for playback in the control panel? Your DAW software can select the appropriate card to use, but Windows sounds and media player will try to use the default device as defined in the audio applet in control panel.

sorry i can't provide you any information to help you but i noticed you said you had to disable pc sound to install your pci-424 and i can't install my pci-424 and i'm on vista home pre as well, only 32 bit. before you disabled sound, did windows not recognize your card after you installed the drivers? that's my problem and it's really frustrating. i'm going to try that though i really hope that works.
