Time machine for occasional use

Post by conleycd »

Hey,

Does anyone know if it is possible to use time machine occasionally - kinda like a normal backup software. Can I run it say once a month or occasionally for backups?

Does it compress the files at all?

Thanks.

I only turn the time machine HD on once every couple of weeks, sometimes more frequently if I've created significant files that I want to backup. Fortunately, I've never had to restore lost data, but I see no reason why it can't be used this way.

Thanks. Does it tell you when it's done backing up?
