Motu 828 crackling noises with Imac
I've recently got my first mac - before now, I've been using my motu 828 with a pc, and i've had no problems with the sound on the motu.
However, when I change the default sound settings on the mac to the motu, setting the input and output as motu 828, it plays sound, but at 44.1khz clock, it crackles over the sound coming through...my solution up until now has been to set the clock to 48khz, but this is proving to be quite annoying because it defaults to 44.1khz, and everytime I load up logic, i have to change the sample rate to 48! its starting to get on my nerves. I have another friend with logic and a motu 828 (usb, the same as mine), and he has no problems with anything like this..
Can anyone shed some light on what the problem may be?
I can't see how it would be new monitors (ADM9s, active), because they work absolutely fine at 44.1khz when the motu is connected to the pc..
I would very much appreciate your advice,
T

....same issue for me. I use 828 with a Macbook Unibody and a Mac Mini. I think it's latest drivers fault, problems with latest Mac versions....
(chipset?)

Hi:
I had the opposite problem. When I went from Windows to an iMac, all my 828MK3 issues disappeared.
Now, to possible solutions: I don't run Logic, but somewhere in their setup menus must be an settings for default bit sample rate and depth. Make sure the default value is set to 44.1, and as well in the MOTU audio setup. Now, also make sure that the master timing clocks are matching. I usually set both to "internal" Also, I didn't look to see how much RAM you were using with the iMac. I increased mine to 4G. And lastly, you may need to increase your buffer settings to 512, if they aren't already there. Also make sure you have the latest drivers for Logic and the MOTU.
Hope this helps you. You may have already tried this
