Hello all,
This is my first post here. I am very close to purchasing the 828 Mk III for use with my new audio system. I'm using a PC with XP Media Center Edition. The 828 will be used as an interface with two Outlaw 2200 monoblock power amps and a pair of Magnepan MMG speakers.
I have one question about the volume controls for the inputs, is the input volume trimmed *before* the conversion from analog to digital on the 828?
thanks everyone,
Veech

You mean the analog trim/gain? Yes.
Have you been using an interface with your current setup already? You should be aware that Windows XP Media Center does not play well at all with professional interfaces. You should find a copy of Home or Professional if you're going to use XP.

ok thanks for the info. wow, is there something about Media Center in specific that I could disable? I would hate to buy another copy of XP or have to install over this one.
Re: 828 Mk III - Does it have analog vol control for inputs?
Media Center is, basically, a crippled version of Home. It is intentionally crippled because it's a specially designed OS meant only for one purpose, much like XP tablet, Windows CE/Mobile, etc... That means it is designed to work only with very specific components and anything superfluous was removed (in our case, extensions that professional devices use). This is good if you're using Media Center exactly as advertised and not so good if you stray off course.

The guy who built my system put MCE on it, I really didn't want it, i wanted XP Pro but it hasn't been an issue until now. I have an older version of XP Pro, I'm pretty much resigned to the fact that I'll have to install it over MCE, I just hope I don't lose all my programs and have to reinstall everything.
So if I install XP Pro, and follow the instructions on the other thread, I'm hoping that I can get the Motu to work properly as it seems to be a wonderful piece of equipment.
